Help and Frequently Asked Questions - Brick Broker
How the scanner, price alerts, collection and delivery countries of Brick Broker work: all the answers, in simple questions.
Scanner (barcode and photo)
The code isn't recognized, what should I do?
Make sure you're scanning the barcode printed on the box and not the price tag stuck on by the store. If the code is truly unknown, enter the brand and set number (and a photo if you want): your contribution is checked, then added for everyone.
Can we scan from the website?
Yes: the Scanner page reads a barcode using your phone or computer camera, and recognizes a set from a photo. In-store, the app is faster: it recognizes offline barcodes and reads mystery boxes.
Search
How do I find a set?
Type its name or set number (e.g., 75192). Themes and common acronyms (UCS, Technic, Star Wars…) work too.
Does Brick Broker only compare LEGO?
No: over 34,000 sets are listed, LEGO as well as compatible brick brands like COBI, CaDA, Mould King, BlueBrixx or Pantasy. Filter by brand to see only one.
Set details and prices
Where do prices come from?
From the official feeds of our partner retailers and, for a few stores, from their product pages, several times a day. Any offer that hasn't been checked for 7 days is removed. When you open a product page, its prices are rechecked: "✓ Prices verified just now" appears when it's done. Amazon is the exception: Brick Broker is an Amazon Associate, but we do not collect, store or track any Amazon price, and no alert applies to Amazon. The "View price on Amazon" button opens the product page on Amazon, with its live price. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Does the displayed price include shipping?
The big price is the one from the merchant's page, excluding shipping costs. When shipping is known, it's shown next to it with the delivered total. The best price, alerts, and your collection value use the delivered price.
Why isn't the price the same at the merchant's?
A price can change between checks: look for the "checked X ago" note under the offer. Some discounts are reserved for the merchant's loyalty customers. If a price is wrong, tap "Report an error" on the item page (reasons "Incorrect price" or "Lower price elsewhere"): we'll fix it.
What does the price history chart show?
The price history recorded for this set, day after day, at the retailers we track. Amazon is not included: we do not track its prices. It shows whether the current price is really low or if it goes back up often.
Does Brick Broker make money on my purchases?
Some merchant links are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking, the merchant pays us a small commission. It doesn't change the price you pay, and the ranking of offers never depends on this commission. Brick Broker doesn't sell anything itself.
How do I rate a set?
With an account, choose 1 to 5 stars on the item page and add a comment if you want. A rating without text counts towards the average. Each comment goes through moderation before being visible.
Delivery country
What are the shipping countries for?
Not all sellers ship everywhere. By choosing where you get deliveries, the best prices, alerts, and your collection's value only count sellers who ship to those countries. By default, it's France.
And on the website?
The « Livraison » badge at the top of the page (in the menu on mobile) lets you choose your countries. If you're logged in, your choice is saved to your account and applies in the app too.
Why are some offers hidden?
These are offers from merchants that don't ship to your countries. The product page points this out, and a button lets you display them anyway. Prices are shown in your countries' currency, unless you've chosen another one.
Price and stock alerts
How do I create an alert on the website?
Log in (the account is free), then, on a set's page, open “Price alert”: choose your target price, or restock. Your alerts appear in “My alerts” on your Account page, where you can delete them.
What if the set is out of stock?
When no price is known, the alert becomes a "back in stock" alert: you're notified as soon as a merchant offers it again.
What happens when the alert goes off?
It alerts you once, then stops. You can set up a new one right away, for example with a lower price.
Collection & value
How do I add a set to my collection?
Create a free account, then add the set from its page by choosing its condition: new sealed, opened / unbuilt, or built. You can add multiple copies of the same set, each with its own condition. Receipts and import also add sets.
How is my collection's value calculated?
For each set, we start with today's best new price from a merchant that ships to your countries. We weight it by condition: 100% sealed, 80% opened / unbuilt, 60% built. Then we add the value of your minifigures. If no price is known, we take the retail price, otherwise about €0.10 per piece. This is an estimate, not a buyback offer, and the same formula is used in the app, on the website, and in emails.
What is the value curve for?
It tracks the estimated value of your collection over the last 90 days, recalculated every morning.
How do I import my collection from another site?
Use the « Importer » button in your space (Account tab; on the website, Account page). Brick Broker reads exports from Brickset (CSV « My sets »), Rebrickable (sets and minifigs) and BrickLink (XML), any CSV table, or a simple pasted list. Ambiguous lines are suggested to you with options: nothing is added without you.
Can I export my collection?
Yes, using the "Export" button in your space, in CSV (spreadsheet) or JSON. The file contains your sets, wishlist, and minifigures, along with their condition and estimated value, and can be reimported as-is. Handy for a backup or for insurance.
Wishlist
What is the wishlist for?
Add the sets you want to buy to your wishlist (the heart): Brick Broker tracks their prices and alerts you when one of them drops by at least 5% in a week. They have a pink heart on their thumbnails, and your wishlist is included in the Saturday summary.
Do I need an account for the wishlist?
Yes: your collection, wishlist, and price alerts are linked to a free account so they are saved and can be found anywhere.
Minifigures
What's in the minifigure catalog?
Over 15,000 minifigures with photos, along with their theme, release year, market value, and the sets they come in. You can sort them (name, value, newest, "Set exclusives"...) and filter them by theme, year, value, or set.
How is a minifigure's value calculated?
It's the median price of eBay listings matching this minifigure, tracked daily. Listings for other variants or complete sets are excluded as much as possible. It's an estimate, and the more listings there are, the more reliable it is.
What does a minifigure page show?
Its theme, its year, a short history automatically generated from catalog data, its market value, a price comparison tool (eBay listings and brand new sets containing it, at the best price), and whether you already own it. The bell alerts you when its value drops below your target price.
Upcoming releases
Where to see upcoming releases?
On the app's home screen, "Upcoming releases" shows upcoming sets in calendar order, with their date. "See all" opens the full list, filterable by brand, theme, or pre-orders only. On the website, it's the Upcoming releases page.
Are the dates reliable?
They come from brand and merchant announcements. A "to be confirmed" date can still change, and sets released less than 30 days ago stay visible in the list.
Can we pre-order?
Brick Broker doesn't sell anything, but the list shows the best open pre-order from a retailer, along with the difference from the launch price. Tap to open the details page, where all offers are compared and you can set an alert.
Coming soon
What does « Retiring soon » mean?
The manufacturer has announced the end of production for the set: it's leaving the shelves, and its price often goes up with resellers afterwards. The red « Coming off » badge and the « Last chance » banner on the page indicate this.
Where to see the list of retiring soon sets?
On the website, the Discontinuing Soon page gathers sets nearing the end of their life, with numbers updated every morning. In the app, the Saturday summary alerts you when a set from your collection or wishlist is leaving production within 90 days.
Why does a retired set show a "collector's price"?
When a set is no longer sold in stores, the remaining offers come from resellers, often well above the launch price. The page specifies this so you don't mistake this resale price for a deal.
News & Community
Where to read the news on the site?
In the News section. The map of stores and clubs is on the Map page.
Account and personal data
Do I need an account?
No, not for comparing and scanning. A free account (email and password) is required for price alerts; it also keeps your collection, wishlist, and minifigures, and makes them available on the app just like on the website. You must be 15 or older, or have parental consent.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings > “Delete my account”, at the very bottom. On the website: your Account page. Deletion is permanent and erases everything linked to the account: collection, wishlist, alerts, reviews, receipts and their photos.
Does the site use measurement cookies?
Only if you accept them in the banner: audience measurement is declined by default. Details are on the Privacy & cookies page.
Are my photos kept?
The photo of a set sent for scanning isn't kept: it's analyzed, then discarded. The photo of a receipt is kept in your private vault (hosted in the European Union), visible only to you, until you remove it or delete your account. In both cases, the reading goes through an image recognition service located outside the European Union.
How to contact us?
Write to contact@doux-labs.com, or use « Contact us » in Settings (Contact page on the website). For an error on a page, the « Report an error » button is the fastest way.
The app
Is Brick Broker free?
Yes, completely. It runs on commissions paid by some sellers when you buy after a click, at no extra cost to you. If a spot is ever paid for by a brand, it will always be marked “Sponsored,” followed by the advertiser's name.
What devices and languages are supported?
Android (Google Play), iPhone (App Store), and the brick-broker.doux-labs.com website in any browser. The app and site are available in 11 languages.
Is Brick Broker affiliated with LEGO?
No. Brick Broker is not sponsored, authorized, or approved by the LEGO Group or the other referenced brands.
